Visakhapatnam: Sraddha Hospital sealed
Visakhapatnam: The district medical and health office on Saturday sealed Sraddha Hospital that is being investigated for illegally performing kidney transplantation, in the presence of hospital staff.
Following the directions of district collector K. Bhaskar, DMHO S. Tirupati Rao reached the hospital along with the police personnel and sealed the hospital. It may be recalled that a case was registered against the hospital at the MR Peta police station in Vizag.
After the district collector ordered a probe in this regard, the three-member committee appointed by him submitted its report. In its report, the committee said that there were no records of 29 of the 68 kidney transplantations performed at the hospital. Later, the collector asked the panel to expand its probe to all private hospitals in the district
Mr Tirupati Rao said that there was a delay in sealing the hospital as the records were verified. The police arrested three persons associated with the hospital while hospital managing director Dr P. Pradeep is absconding.
