Thrissur: Rotten fruits found in raids on cool bars

Thrissur: Rotten fruits were found in cool bars of Thrissur during raids conducted by health department officials and food inspectors.  The raids were conducted as per the instructions of District Medical  Officer K.J. Reena. Health Depar-tment deputy DMO Anoop T.K. said 14 cases were brought to notice of civic body officials and Food Safety officer for follow-up action.

She said that a fine Rs 56,800 were slapped on different cool bars, hotels and restaurants for violations.

 

The officials said that the cool bars using rotten fruits were slapped with fine and notices were issued to them.

At total of 1,176 places across the district were raided and notices were issued to 112 establishments.

No proper sanitation, use of unsafe water, among other violations were  also noted during inspection.

 As many as 14 cases have been brought to the notice of concerned civic bodies and Food Safety officer for further follow-up in the raids which were conducted state-wide as per the direction of told DC.
