Nellore: Rs 10.5 lakh temple jewellery recovered

The value of the recovered jewellery is estimated to be Rs 10.5 lakh.

Nellore: Ongole Taluk police, led by CI Ganga Venkateswarlu and CCS SI K. Kamalakar, arrested the accused involved in temple thefts in Prakasam and Guntur districts and recovered 42 sovereigns of gold and 850 grams of silver on Saturday.

The value of the recovered jewellery is estimated to be Rs 10.5 lakh. The accused, identified as Emani Rambabu, 53, belongs to Arundhati Nagar in Guntur. He has beenliving at Bandamitla in Prakasam district.

The recovered valuables include 20 thalibottus and other ornaments used to adorn the idols. Prakasam district SP Siddharth Koushal said there are nine cases registered against Rambabu in Prakasam and Guntur districts.
