Kurnool: The puja performed for a new car at Sakshi Ganapathi temple in Srisailam ended up in a chaos with the vehicle hitting five pedestrians passing by the shrine on Saturday. Further, the angry victims threw flower pots at the new vehicle damaging its mirrors.
Generally, those buying new vehicles bring them to the Sakshi Ganapathi temple to get a puja performed to ward off evil eye and get the blessings of Lord Ganesha for safe journeys. Pilgrims visiting Srisailam temple offer prayers to Lord Ganesha before praying to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy at the main temple.
On Saturday, a white-colour Suzuki hatchback car was brought to the temple and after performing the puja, the priest asked the driver to turn on the engine and slightly move the vehicle so as to crush the four lemons kept under the four tyres.
However, the driver stepped on the accelerator and the car hit some people passing by the temple.
The injured included two women and three men. Enraged over the incident, the victims threw flower pots at the vehicle which damaged the mirrors.
