Kalpetta: Nidhin Padmanabhan, 32, a native of Kappiset, near Pulppalli, here, was shot dead during a quarrel with his neighbour late on Friday night. Another person Kishore, a relative of Nidhin, has also been injured seriously due to the gunshot.
According to police the murderer is Pulikkal Sharley, son of Suku, a neighbour of Nidhin. He escaped after the incident and police has started a search operation to nab the suspect. The incident took place on Friday night towards 11 pm near the LPG gas godown on the banks of River Kannarampuzha, according to locals. The accused had links with the poaching gangs in the locality, police said.
The gunshots went through the left side of the chest of Nidhin, police said. Police suspects that the accused might have escaped into Karnataka forest. With the help of forest department a police team has launched a search operation in the forests.
