Hyderabad: CCTV cameras installed at Hajipur village

This step was taken as part of the police’s assurance of safety to the villagers.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda police officials inaugurated CCTV cameras at Hajipur village, Bommalaramaram, where three girls had been raped and killed. This step was taken as part of the police’s assurance of safety to the villagers.

Addressing the villagers during the inauguration, Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said, “These CCTV cameras will be helpful in effectively tracking antisocial elements and their activities.” He went on to explain to the villagers that the cameras were their property and that they should look after them. He said they could report their concerns either to local officers or directly to him at the Praja Darbaar at the Neredmet police commissioner’s office.

Mr Bhagwat, along with Bhongir collector Anitha Ramachandran inaugurated the 12 cameras which were connected to a network video recorder at the gram panchayat office in the village. The cameras cost approximately Rs 10.6 lakh.
