Thanjavur: Hundreds witness Duvadasa Garudasevai
Thanjavur: As many as 24 principal deities of Sri Vaishnavite temples gave darshan to devotees on Garudavahana at the 85th year 'duvadasa garudasevai' held here on Saturday.
It was a rare sight to see 24 Perumals mounted on 'Garudavahana' coming one after another in a queue on four main streets of the town.
Hundreds of people witnessed the Garudasevai. Earlier Perumals from various temples including Veeranarasimhar, Manikundrar and Neelamegar-all the three from temples located on the banks of Vennar and considered as one 'Divya Desam', came to Kodimarathumoolai. From there they proceeded with Thirumangaiyalwar on 'Hamsa Vahanam' in the front in the four main streets.
The 'Perumals', taken in procession were Velur Varadaraja Perumal, Padithurai Venkatesa Perumal, Kaliyuga Venkatesa Perumal, Bazaar Ramar, Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal, and Yoga Narasimhar among others. The festival is jointly organised by palace 'Devasthanam' and 'Ramanuja 'Darshana Sabha'.
Navaneetha Sevai will take place on Sunday. The festival will end with 'Vidayatri' function on Monday.
