Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was not ready to learn lessons from the people’s verdict. He was turning a blind eye to realities.
Mr Chennithala was reacting to Mr Vijayan's statement that controversies related to the entry of women of reproductive age into Sabarimala shrine had no impact on the elections. “Lok Sabha election results in the state were against both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pinarayi Vijayan. The chief minister had no moral right to continue in power. He should resign,” said Mr Chennithala.
He also ridiculed the chief minister for his statement that he would not change his style of functioning. The present style is in the interest of the Congress, Mr Chennithala said.
He said that the person did not understand the fact that it was the votes of the CPM that transferred to the BJP. Sabari-mala was the main issue in the elections. CPM had dreamt of weakening the Congress in the state by strengthening the BJP. This strategy misfired, said Mr Chennithala.
He also said that the ambition of the chief mi-nister was to ensure the victory of the BJP in Pathanamthitta as he had pointed out that the fact that BJP came third here had proved that Sabari-mala had no impact on elections.
