BJP leaders shower mirror gifts on Bhupesh Baghel
Bhopal: Chhattisgarh on Saturday witnessed politics of different kind, mirror politics. In a tit-for-tat step, BJP leaders on Saturday gifted mirrors to Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel as a symbolical demonstration of making him “realise” where ruling Congress stood in the wake of disastrous show of the party in the outgoing Lok Sabha elections in the country. The action was in retaliation to Mr Baghel’s decision to send a mirror to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April one this year to ‘remind’ the latter of his alleged failure to fulfill promises made by BJP during the 2014 LS polls. IAS officer-turned-BJP leader O.P. Choudhury in his Twitter post said he sent a mirror to Mr Baghel to make him realise how he miserably failed to steer his party in the recently held Lok Sabha polls in Chhattisgarh. Congress won only 2 seats, leaving BJP to bag the rest nine seats in Chhattisgarh in the 2019 general elections. Congress had barely six months ago swept the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh by security 68 out of total 90 seats. BJP could get only 15 seats. Another BJP leader
Ajey Chandrakar also gifted a mirror to Mr Baghel with similar motive. Interestingly, Janata Congress state president Amit Jogi said Mr Baghel has been flooded with so many mirrors that he could now open a mirror shop.
A proverb in Hindi says ‘Aina dikha diya’ which means to show a person his real self.
