Dawaat-e-Iftar: Foes share Iftar table, pic viral

Some netizens assumed a political alliance was in the offing, others asked for one.

Hyderabad: A picture of MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, MBT leader Amjedullah Khan and Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar along with other Islamic scholars, sharing a table has gone viral on social media.

The picture was taken by an invitee at the Dawaat-e-Iftar hosted on Thursday at Chowmahalla Palace and posted on social media. 

 

Mr Amjedullah Khan is a known critic of the MIM and his sharing a table with Mr Owaisi in public was the talk of the town now.

Soon after it was posted on Facebook, people began posting comments and sharing the post across the city and West Asia, where Old City politics is discussed a lot. A few persons even enquired if the MBT would merge with the MIM, only to realise that there was no such proposal. 

A few felt that both the leaders should set aside their differences and unite. 

Mr Khaja Sayeed wrote, “Amjad Bhai you support the AIMIM in election. Inshallah, there would be a lot of changes in the Old City (sic).”

Another person, Sikander Khan, commented, “Almighty unite them and fill their hearts with love to each other (sic).”

Mr Mukhtar Mohiuddin stated, “Good to see all together. Allah keep them together forever (sic).” 

Some commented that only politics divides them while they are  humans and Muslims in the first place. 

Mr Hyder Ali Hashmi poetically stated, “Enmity turns into friendship while dining. Such scene give a shock to the Old City dwellers (sic).”
