Visakhapatnam: Three-layer security for Telugu Desam's Mahanadu
Visakhapatnam: A three-layer security will cover the Telugu Desam’s three-day mega conclave ‘Mahanadu’ scheduled from May 27 to 29 at Andhra University Engineering College ground in Vizag city. A strong contingent of police of over 3,200 policemen from various armed battalions, Greyhounds, Octopus and Quick Reaction Team will on round the clock duty in two shifts not only at the venue but across the city.
The venue for the TD’s conclave has already been taken over by security forces and the three layer security arrangements will keep a vigil on the entire venue. As per the 3-layer security cover, the outer layer will man the 12 check-posts at entry points to the city, there will be an intermediate layer between the check-posts and the venue and core team will be present at the venue and its surroundings.
DCP (Law and Order, North Zone) Navin Gulati said that the security plan for the Mahanaud also spread the across the north Andhra comprising Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts to keep a tab on the suspected persons. Sources said that the police are taking numerous measures for the security of all the people, who attend the Mahanadu as the intelligence agencies have alerted that there is a possible threat from the Maoists, who have been waiting for an opportunity for a retaliation of Malkangiri’s encounter. Over 35 access control teams will man the 20 access points.
