Swathi murder case: Ramkumar's advocate smells a rat, to sue cops

The lawyer demanded a fresh investigation by a Central probe agency to find out the real culprits.

TIRUNELVELI: After seven months since the death of the Chennai-based techie girl Swathi’s murderer Ramkumar, his advocate Ramaraj raked up suspicions on the role of the police, a section of the judiciary and the prison department “of trying to sweep the truth under the carpet in the Swathi murder case”.

The lawyer demanded a fresh investigation by a Central probe agency to find out the real culprits behind the murder of Swathi, as the advocate had suspected a plot behind the murder.

Speaking to media persons at Vadanathampatti near Ramkumar’s native village in Tirunelveli district on Thursday, advocate Ramaraj said, “there must be some embarrassing secret in the case and hence the Tamil Nadu police deliberately denied post-mortem report of Ramkumar, who was said to have committed suicide inside the prison.” The advocate too suspected the role of the judiciary and prison authorities in allegedly helping the police “to hide the truth”.

“Our client, though no more now, has been accused in the Swathi murder case, we have the right to know on what legal ground that the case has been dropped without hearing our side,” said advocate Ramaraj, who is to file a case against the police, the Judge who dealt with the case and the prison department on June 5.
