SCB CEO clears 10 named in CBI cases

Ms Gupta said that in all the 10 cases, it was found that the SCB engineers had served notices to the violators.

Hyderabad: Ten CBI cases that had been registered against SCB engineers in 2011 for allowing illegal constructions have been dropped after SCB CEO Sujata Gupta submitted a report to the General Officer Commanding, Pune.

It was concluded that the illegal properties were individual houses, and no nexus was found between the property owners and engineers. In 2011, CBI officials had raided the SCB office and the residence of its chief executive officer. It had registered cases against then SCB CEO C. Ravindra and five engineering wing employees and two builders.

Ms Gupta said that in all the 10 cases, it was found that the SCB engineers had served notices to the violators. who nevertheless went ahead. “No nexus was found between the engineers and violators and the cases have been dropped,” she said.

The CEO added that even when buildings are demolished, not a single violator had stated that they had paid engineers. “Then how can the system be blamed,” she said.
