Chennai: R. Sivakumar from Virudhunagar and R. Prema Sudha from Rasipuram, Namakkal secured the state top rank with 499 out of 500 marks in the class 10 results declared on Wednesday.
The top three ranks got very crowded this year with 276 students occupying them with another 50 students scoring 498 and 224 students scoring 497 out of 500 marks. Among the top three rankers, 217 are girls and 59 are boys.
Among school candidates, the pass percentage is 93.6%, a slight increase of 0.7% compared to last year (92.9%).
Needless to say, girls with a pass percentage of 95.9% outperformed boys who had registered 91.3%.
