Dharani fiasco: Congress demands probe into land dealings

Hyderabad: In the wake of the High Court’s observations over the Dharani portal’s implementation, Congress leader Bakka Judson demanded that the government resolve all the issues which have cropped up following its implementation.

Terming the purchase of farmland in Vattinagulapally of Gandipet mandal by developers as a clear case of defrauding the farmers, the leader alleged that “illegal registrations” in connivance with revenue officials were still continuing. He demanded that the registrations be canceled and a probe be initiated by national agencies like CBI.

“When the farmers sold the land in this village spread across 1,500 acres, these were under GO 111. However, after the developers acquired them suddenly their status changed. These registrations should be canceled. Don’t you think the farmers were cheated?” he asked, speaking to ‘Deccan Chronicle’.

Judson who had submitted a complaint over the issue to the Directorate of Enforcement, CBI, Income Tax department in 2022 informed that per acre land in this village was worth more than Rs 10 cr as per open market valuation.
“These lands were recently exempted from GO 111. A few people in the government have been illegally acceding these lands of farmers and landowners, also the IT and ED attached assets, aided by their benamis. The properties which are under the aegis of the court and other sale deeds and blacklisted assets were registered unlawfully,” he alleged.

On Tuesday, the High Court lambasted the government over discrepancies that cropped up after the implementation of the Dharani portal. Justice K Lakshman questioned Naveen Mittal, Chief Commissioner Of Land Administration as to what steps were being taken to resolve the issues after the introduction of the Dharani portal.
