ANANTAPUR: A video of a constable from Tadipathri rural police, who tested positive for Covid-19, blaming his sub-inspector and circle inspector for refusing leave went viral. The cop shared his video with others while he was being shifted to Anantapur Super Specialty Hospital in an ambulance.

Ganesh Kumar has been working as a constable at the Tadipathri rural police station in the district.

According to the video, he suffered a serious illness three days ago with Covid-19 symptoms. Though he requested for a Casual Leave, the Tadipathri rural sub-inspector Khaja Hussain refused and allotted duties. The constable had to attend remand duties to Gooty and Anantapur towns even during illness.

Ganesh Kumar’s sickness exacerbated on Saturday and was shifted in an ambulance from Tadipathri to the super specialty hospital’s Covid Care hospital at Anantapur.

While travelling in an ambulance, the constable blamed the sub inspector for harassing the constables even suffering of covid positive through selfie video.

“The sub-inspector will be responsible, if any untoward event happens in my life, because I have been suffering for the past three days,” the constable said and added that the Tadipathri rural circle inspector had also supported the sub-inspector.

While the video of the constable went viral, Anantapur SP Satya Esubabu directed the Tadipathri DSP Chaitanya to inquire into the matter. Esubabu ruled out the negligence of higher authorities and harassment of constables.

He said the constable was found negative for Covid-19 when HRCT was conducted on his as part of the department’s preventive measure and he was given three-day permission.

On Saturday, however, the constable was tested positive for Covid-19 and he was immediately sent to the Super Specialty Hospital by arranging an ambulance..

He is being treated at the hospital and doctors said he was safe. SP observed the constable might have made allegations in emotion after he was tested positive.
