Second wet run of KLIS conducted successfully

Smitha Sabharwal directed officials to complete the installation of the remaining two motors as early as possible.

Peddapalli: The second wet run under Package-6 of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) was conducted successfully at Nandi Medaram in Peddapalli on Thursday.

Chief Minister’s Office secretary Smitha Sabharwal, accompanied the Peddapalli collector Devasena, offered prayers before conducting the wet run. Congratulating the engineering staff, technicians, contractors, and workers, Ms Sabharwal directed them to complete the remaining works of the project as early as possible with the same spirit and enthusiasm.

Ms Sabharwal stated that out of the seven heavy-duty motors of 127.6 MW each which were to be installed at Nandi Medaram as part of Package-6, four had been installed and work on the fifth motor was in its final stages.

She directed officials to complete the installation of the remaining two motors as early as possible. Collector Devasena said that after redesigning and completing the irrigation projects within a record time of four years, the Telangana state government had taken up the Kaleshwaram project with the intent of utilising the Godavari water to its fullest.

She added the fruition of the project would bring about the onset of a golden era for the farmers.
