Peddapalli: The second motor wet run under the package-6 of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) was conducted successfully here at Nandi Medaram in Peddapalli on Thursday.

The secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Smitha Sabharwal, accompanied the Peddpalli district collector Devasena attending as a chief guest, and offered prayers before conducting the wet run.

Congratulating the engineering staff, technicians, contractors and workers, Ms Sabharwal ordered them to complete the remaining works of the project as early as possible with the same spirit and enthusiasm.

Under package-6 of the project, about seven heavy duty motors with a capacity of 127.6 megawatts must be installed at Nandi Medaram out of which the installation works of four motors have been completed and the fifth motor works are in the final stage, she informed.

She also ordered the concerned officials to complete the installation works of the sixth and seventh motors as early as possible.

District collector Devasena said that with the aim of utilising the Godavari water to its full extent, the Telangana government had taken up the Kaleshwaram project after redesigning the irrigation project and completed it in record time of just four years.

The problems of the farmers across the state were going to end once the works of Kaleshwaram project were completed.

The farming community was going to witness a golden era in their lives in the days to come, the collector added.

It is to be noted that with the determination to supply water to farmers for irrigation before the rainy season began, the Telangana state government had completed the trial run in the last week on April 17 along with conducting the wet run successfully through first motor on Wednesday April 24.
