However, the state government did not clear Rs.1,000 crore arrears to corporate hospitals which are registered under Arogyasri scheme.

Kakinada: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the state government revive ‘Arogya Raksha’ scheme and sought the authorities to resume enrolment of beneficieries for the scheme that should continued. They also demanded renewals of the scheme that should be done through `Mee-Seva centres and linked with bank accounts.

BJP city president Chitneedi Srinivas, party state council member Duvvuri Subrahmanyam, Ms Pendem Sridevi and others submitted a memorandum to the District Medical and Health Officer on Thursday and said that the health schemes should be implemented continuously without ‘go and come’ ruling parties.

They demanded that it should be done by government departments as a continuous process, pointing out that the medical and health issues are of utmost importance for people. Mr Srinivas said that the state governments in the two states should implement the ‘Ayushman Bharat' and other health schemes, introduced by the Union government for the welfare of the people of the two states.

He suggested the Union Government take over the discriminatory powers given to the states in the implementation of the Central schemes, in particular education and health schemes. He said that many of schemes initiated by the Central governments were being implemented by changing their names. However, the state government did not clear Rs.1,000 crore arrears to corporate hospitals which are registered under Arogyasri scheme. He said that the government should clear the arrears and provide quality treatment in private and corporate hospitals to the poor. Mr Subrahmanyam said that the state government should have give importance to the Arogya Raksha scheme than `Pausupu-Kumkuma' and other voter inducement schemes.
