4 killed as car crashes into lorry at Bhongir

Pedda Somaiah and friends hired an SUV to take his son Parashu Ramulu, who was not keeping well, to a doctor in Tirumalgiri.

Hyderabad: Four persons were killed and four others injured in a road mishap when the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry from the rear in Yadadri on Wednesday.

According to police, the accident occurred near Teachers' Colony at Bhongir in Yadadri-Bhongir district.

The men were identified as Maddi Saidulu, who was at the wheel, Neelagiri Pedda Somaiah, Neelagiri Parasu Ramulu and Enuthala Yadagiri, all hailing from Gattu Singaram village of Adagudur mandal in the district.

“Pedda Somaiah hired an SUV to take his son Parashu Ramulu, who was not keeping well, to a doctor in Tirumalgiri, along with his relatives and friends to lend him moral support. After the doctor advised the family to move Ramulu to Hyderabad for further treatment, tragedy struck the group as they were on their way,” Circle Inspector Shanker Goud said.

The car was en route to Hyderabad when Saidulu rammed the SUV into a lorry from behind, causing the death of three and injuring the rest, Mr Goud said.

The police rushed to the spot and moved the bodies to Bhongir Area Hospital for post-mortem examination. The driver's negligence is suspected have caused the accident. In yet another incident 15 days prior to this, a van driven by Saidulu had turned turtle near Jangaon.

Bhongir DCP Ramachandra Reddy along with Mr Goud visited the spot and further investigations are on the case.
