With no doctors present at night, hospital attendants assisted in three deliveries.
BHADRAK: Three pregnant women on Monday night delivered their babies reportedly under torchlight at Agarpada Community Health Centre (CHC) in Banta block of Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
Shockingly, two nurses, assisted by a woman sweeper and attendant, performed the deliveries as no doctors were present in the CHC at that time, reports said.
According to the women’s family members, there was no power supply in the area since Monday evening and the electric generator of the hospital was defunct.
Luckily, an inverter managed to provide some light to the attendents to help them assist in the delivery. Soon, power from the inverter was exhausted and the patients in the CHC had to stay in darkness for the rest of the night.
