Kempegowda International Airport in sights, KJ George cuts through jungle
Bengaluru: The government will soon finalise an alternative road to the Kempegowda International Airport, apart from the one that runs through Begur village.
Though the government had opened the road during the AeroIndia show to reduce traffic jams on Ballari Road, it was shut for asphalting and other works. The Public Works Department, which has taken up the construction, has hit a hurdle now because of a high-voltage power line cutting through the stretch.
Bengaluru Development Minister K.J.George on Tuesday reviewed the progress of works on the road and also discussed other alternative roads to the airport, during a meeting with the officials of Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
"The government will finalise one of these routes shortly," said Mr Pradeep Singh, MD of BMRCL.
On the Metro link to the airport, officials discussed nine routes. The department will put up these routes on its website for public opinion.
