Farmers will till gold, says K Chandrasekhar Rao

CM unveils farm revolution' plan; says tillers will be eligible bachelors.

Hyderabad: Promising to turn agriculture into a “Bangaru sector”, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday unveiled a multipronged roadmap to revive the sector, including a big push to mechanisation.

Mr Rao said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers of many states were positively inclined towards his idea of dividing the nation into crop colonies depending on agro-climatic conditions as proposed in TS to ensure suitable crops and remunerative prices.

He was speaking at the State-wide agricultural officers and farmers meet at HICC here.

“First step is always doubtful. I have self confidence, achieved statehood and I am striving for Bangaru Telangana. Despite economists’ view of low returns, a big chunk of people depend on farm for livelihood. I will prove Vyavasayam danduga kudu, panduga” (agriculture is not waste, but celebrations). It’s a maha yagna. I need cooperation of one and all,” he said.

Mr Rao added, “You will soon see parents seeking the hand of a farmer for their daughter whom they ignore now.”

For the agri officials, the CM promised to hire required staff, give free laptops to 3,500 field-level officers, motorbikes on interest-free loans, hike in conveyance allowance, posting of employee couples at one place, study tour of Israel to 300 officers in batches, etc.

He asked agricultural officers to develop close rapport with 55.46 lakh farmers in their 5,000 acre jurisdiction, collect details of revenue villages, farmers, extent of landholdings etc. so that the information is used to plan agriculture operations for their benefit.
