Datta Peetha row: BJP leaders want solution by Supreme Court deadline
Siddaramaiah, who chaired the meeting, asked why BJP leaders why they could not resolve the issue.

Bengaluru: Racing against the deadline of May 9 set by the Supreme Court to find an amicable solution to the Datta Peetha row, a delegation consisting of pontiffs and former minister C.T. Ravi urged the state government to peruse revenue records and settle the dispute.
The Sangh parivar claims the shrine of Sufi saint Dada Hayath Meer Qalandar here, was originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, an incarnation of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
The delegation claimed that the survey number where Datta Peetha and Baba Budangiri shrines are situated are different and by looking at a single survey number the wrangle over the pilgrim centre cannot be resolved. Therefore, the pontiffs and Mr Ravi urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to go through the revenue records before taking a decision.
Mr Siddaramaiah, who chaired the meeting, asked why BJP leaders why they could not resolve the issue. In response, Mr Ravi said the case was pending in the apex court, so the previous government could not take any decision.
"The Supreme Court has asked the state government resolve the issue. So, the ball is in the state's court. The court very clearly said that the government should take into account the report of muzrai commissioner and other records before resolving the issue on or before May 9," he added.
Mr Ravi told the media the Datta peetha was situated on survey number 195 of Yagara Hobli of Chikkamagalur taluk and Bababudanigiri, in survey number 57 of the same hobli. During the last 41 years, 37 cases were filed of which 34 were disposed off.
Later the Chief Minister told the media that he would consult legal experts to settle the dispute.
