Rains bring respite from heatwave in Telangana
Hyderabad: Thundershowers in few parts of Hyderabad and Medak in Telangana on Tuesday brought some relief to people reeling under intense heatwave for past three weeks.
Notably, as many as 49 people have died due to heatwave in Telangana till April 23, state State Disaster Management had earlier said.
Rains coupled with hailstorm were reported on Tuesday in some parts of Hyderabad and Medak districts, Indian Meteorological Department in-charge director Y K Reddy said.
"Temperatures may come down by at least five degrees Celsius in those areas where rains occurred," he said.
Meanwhile, the MeT department said heatwave conditions are "very likely" to prevail over many parts in all districts of Telangana during the next 48 hours.
"No large change in maximum temperatures over Telangana. They were appreciably above normal at many places over Telangana. The highest maximum temperature of 45 deg Celsius was recorded at Nizamabad and Ramagundam," it said.
Heatwave conditions prevailed today over many parts of Karimnagar, Khammam and Nizamabad districts in Telangana, it further said.
