In 2 hours, Bengaluru was back to cool
Bengaluru: A difference of two degrees! And what a difference it made! As the heavens opened up - ever so slightly - showering the city with 20.33 mm of rain, accompanied by a cool breeze, the mood lifted across the city on Monday evening as temperatures dropped from a scorching 39.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday to a welcome 27 degrees by Monday night.
As trees were uprooted and the drains quickly filled up even with this minute amount of rain, there were traffic pile-ups across the Central Business District. But no-one was complaining! The Met Department officials said that Monday’s rain was because of unprecedented maximum temperature recorded in the city on Sunday. That we knew! Now all we need to know is when the next showers are due, what to do about autorickshaw drivers who cash in whenever the city is in a bind, and when we are likely to see, thunder, lightning and rain flash across the night sky! Met officials said they expected more rains over the next 48 hours with temperature likely to fall even further till Friday.
