Amputation only way ahead for gangrene-hit Dawood Ibrahim

New Delhi: The news that 1993 serial blast mastermind Dawood Ibrahim is soon to kick the bucket owing to gangrene that is spreading quickly has taken the Indian media by storm, prompting close watchers to wonder if a successor to the infamous 'D-Gang' may be announced soon.

According to a CNN-News18 report, India's most wanted terrorist has been left crippled by gangrene. The condition is a result of improper blood flow to the tissues in his legs due to high blood pressure. Doctors have suggested the option of amputating his legs as the only alternative.

Reports of Dawood's ill health went rife after doctors were seen near his Clifton area residence in Karachi. Dawood is now receiving treatment a the Liaquat National Hospital and the Combined Military Hospital in Karachi as Pakistan’s ISI, who’s protection he enjoys, is not keen on moving him out of the city.

The 60-year-old is likely to be succeeded by his right hand man Chhota Shakeel, but reports have emerged quoting Shakeel denying the whole news, and claiming his boss to be ‘perfectly fit’.
