Hyderabad: The annual summer coaching camps conducted by the GHMC kickstarted on Monday with over 3,000 children from the civic body’s central zone attending the inauguration event at Victory playground.
But to the shock of guests, children were seen sitting under the Sun for an hour between 8.30 and 9.30 am during the inauguration, while officials were safe from the heat under a tent. When asked about the arrangement, the sport officer on special duty Mr. Prem Raj said the inauguration was conducted between 8.30–9.30pm it at a playground to accommodate all the children who had attended the event. He added the children were not outside for a long time and left soon after the event was over. Also, due to the severe heat, camp timings are from 6.00 AM to 8. 15 AM every day at 1,553 centers across the GHMC circles. Free coaching will be given in athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, baseball, boxing, cricket, chess, canoeing and kayaking, cycling, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, Handball, judo, karate, kabaddi, skating, swimming etc. The admission fee is Rs 50/- for Skating, Badminton, Cricket, Tennis. While Rs 10/- for all other games. Coaches will be available for the selected sport and trainees are not permitted to carry any sports materials outside the playgrounds.
