YS Jagan Mohan Reddy promises weavers Rs 24,000
TIRUPATI: YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said that apart from providing raw material to weavers at subsidised rates, each weaver family would be given Rs 24,000 and loans at the lowest interest rate if the party came to power.
Addressing the mammoth gathering at Madanapalli in Chittoor district on Monday, Mr Reddy promised waiving house loans for the poor and guaranteed fair price to farmers. “Our aim is to see a smile on every face in the state. With YSRC’s pride ‘Navarantnal’ schemes it would be possible to achieve what we aimed for,” he maintained.
Mr Reddy said that it was unfair on the part of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to immediately forget the promises, which he made to the weavers community, after coming to power. “Mr Naidu had promised loans to weavers at lowest interest rates, but after coming to power he failed to fulfil it. Suicides had increased during his regime,” he alleged.
He also alleged that the government has been collecting 10 per cent as market commission from farmers. “During my Padayatra in Madanapalli constituency, I have seen farmers struggling to sell their crops even for the minimum fair price. Mr Naidu has become captain for touts and has been looting farmers for the benefit of his Heritage Foods company. He also closed down Vijaya cooperative dairy for the benefit of Heritage,” he said adding that he would reopen the cooperative after his party formed the government.
“Mr Naidu has backstabbed the weaver community by introducing Silk subsidy scheme. Out of 35,000 weaver families, he extended the scheme to only 3,000 families, leaving the remaining in the lurch. We assure you that YSRC will give Rs 24,000 to each family after coming to power,” he maintained.
The HNSS canal works were started during the regime of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who allocated Rs 4,076 crore towards the construction of this project. It was YSR who completed 80 per cent of the project, but Mr Naidu has been claiming that he was the brain behind the project and brought water to the canal, he added.
Reciting his trademark slogan ‘Nenu Unnanu-Nenu Vinnanu’, Mr Jagan promised that he would provide free education and further strengthen the fee reimbursement scheme, which Mr Naidu failed to implement effectively.
Mr Jagan also appealed to the public not to fall for Mr Naidu’s money, which he was giving to DWCRA groups.
