TD nominee denied entry into a village

After assuming charge as an MLA, he drew criticism from a majority of the people.

Kakinada: Pithapuram MLA S.V.S.N. Varma, the TD candidate for the Pithapuram Assembly constituency, faced the wrath of the people in some villages, when he visited them for poll campaigning. The villagers criticised him for not being accessible during the last five years. Mr Varma got a record majority in 2014 elections, more than 90,000 votes as an independent candidate, after the TD denied ticket to him.

The denial of ticket by the TD earned him sympathy of the people and support from the Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) farmers.

After assuming charge as an MLA, he drew criticism from a majority of the people.

At one point of time, the TD refused to give him ticket. Now, he started getting support from the dissidents.

He faced opposition from the people in Komaragiri village, U. Kothapalli mandal.

According to sources, while he was going to Komaragiri for election campaign, some of the people in the village prevented him from entering the village.

At the same time, the YSRC also launched its campaign in the village and the people made it clear that Mr Varma should not visit their village. To this, the MLA said nobody can stop him from entering the village as it was he, who developed all the villages in Pithapuram constituency.

He said that he was a local of the village and not coming from Kakinada or Kothapet or other places. Meanwhile, the people of the village, in particular YSRC workers, challenged and dared Mr Varma to come to the village. They said that Mr Varma insulted them.
