Rajahmundry: Unpaid taxes invite wrath of civic body

He asked them to pay more attention on property owners who failed to respond even after demand notices were served to them to clear the dues.

Rajahmundry: Municipal Commissioner Sumit Kumar Gandhi on Monday asked property owners to clear their tax dues by March 31 and cautioned them that essential services to the properties that fail to do so by that time in the city would be stopped.

At a meeting held with civic body officials here, the municipal commissioner reviewed the taxes paid by the property owners and directed the Revenue Officers to serve notices to the owners, under AP Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 under Section 269 (2) to see that tax dues were cleared promptly.

He asked them to pay more attention on property owners who failed to respond even after demand notices were served to them to clear the dues. Mr Gandhi asked the owners of individual houses, apartments, commercial establishments and government offices to clear tax dues within the stipulated time promptly and instructed the revenue officers concerned to stop essential services to such properties if they fail to pay tax dues by March 31.

He also asked the people to avail of the special counters being set up at the municipal office, even during holidays, to pay the taxes.
