Bengaluru: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bengaluru zonal unit has arrested four men – three from Kodagu and one from Kerala at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and seized contraband narcotic drugs worth over Rs 6 crore in the international grey market, which was being smuggled out of the country. They were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Last week, the NCB had arrested Nousheer Mohammed (29), a resident of Kodagu, and Naushad Mannakamvalli (24) from Mallapuram in Kerala and seized 965 gm of amphetamine, 30 gm of cocaine and 4.525 gm of hashish, which was concealed in quilts and tiffin boxes. The duo was intercepted when they were about to board the flight to Doha by Oman Airways.
In pursuance of the same case, the NCB on Monday arrested two more men – Pallulabid A.A. (39) and Majeed Y.M. (31) from Kodagu. “The two had arrived in Bengaluru on March 8 and 14 to facilitate the smuggling of the contraband drugs," said an NCB officer. This is said to be the biggest drug haul by NCB, Bengaluru in recent times.
In yet another major seizure, the NCB on information received from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) seized 4.65 kg of hashish from Anuj Kumar alias Arun and Bandita Suna, who were posing as a couple. The two had arrived from Delhi and were intercepted when the contraband drug was seized from their hand baggage during security a check at KIA. They were also heading to Doha by Oman Airways.
“We need to find out if all the six arrested in two different NDPS cases in the last three days belong to the same module," the officer said.
