The international prices then were extraordinarily high, ruling above $100 a barrel and not until the glut years came from 2015 did the prices barrel down.
Thiruvananthapuram: All petrol pumps in the state will stay shut from 6 am to 1 pm on Monday in protest against the rising attacks on petrol pumps. The strike call was given by All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders.
Traders complained that they were finding it difficult to get staff due to attacks. They demanded a legislation for exte-nding protection to petrol pumps. Measures must be taken to provide cash deposit machines near petrol pumps so that the owners can deposit money at the spot thereby reducing the scope of attack while taking money to be deposited in banks.
