Hyderabad: Rs 1,111 crore property tax collected so far

With the target set at Rs 1,400 crore, the corporation has another Rs 300 crore to collect.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has, till date, collected Rs 1,111 crores pertaining to property tax. With the target set at Rs 1,400 crore, the corporation has another Rs 300 crore to collect. Officials have claimed that the corporation had collected Rs 250 crore on the last day of every financial year and were hopeful of reaching the target by the end of this financial year.

The GMHC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, has appealed to property owners to pay taxes on time and added that there would be no interest waiver this year.

As per records, most of the property tax payers had not yet paid their dues for the present financial year and the commissioner said that he had asked owners of individual properties and commercial and industrial establishments to pay their dues immediately.

Mr Reddy added that the GMHC had not increased the property tax for many years and was striving to increase total collections as compared last year.
