PU paper leak: Students may be taken as witness
BENGALURU: The CID officials probing the leakage of second PU Chemistry question paper are reportedly contemplating to consider the students, who received the question papers, as witnesses in the case.
Sources in the CID said that as there are hundreds of students who had access to question papers before the exam, the officials are thinking of considering most of them as witnesses. “The people who leaked the question papers will be certainly charged for the crime. Students who were found to be in direct contact with those who leaked the papers and paid money to them will also be considered as accused. However, those who have no direct contact with the accused, but got the papers through various social media platforms cannot be considered as accused, unless we have evidence that they were trying to get the paper. Thus, we are thinking of considering them as witnesses,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the investigating teams visited several colleges and tuition centres in Bengaluru, Kolar and Kalaburagi and questioned several people on Friday. “Principals and lecturers of various colleges and people, who run tutorials, were picked up for questioning. Some of the people who were involved in similar offences in the past were also questioned. But no one has been arrested or detained,” the official added.
