Delhi road rage: Dentist's friends seek security for family, meet Kejriwal

Narang was dragged out of his house and beaten with bats, iron rods over bike graze.

New Delhi: Friends and neighbours of dentist Pankaj Narang, who was beaten to death in west Delhi's Vikaspuri area, on Saturday met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and requested security for his family.

After the meeting, the Delhi Chief Minister said he spoke to the Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, who immediately agreed to it.

"Friends n neighbours of Dr Narang met me today n requested police protection for family n police patrolling in area," Kejriwal tweeted.

"I spoke to LG, who immediately agreed. They also advised me to visit the family after a few days as family was in shock rt now (sic)," he said.

A senior police officer claimed the matter was communicated to police following which some cops were deployed outside Dr Narang's house yesterday.

The 40-year-old dentist was beaten to death by a group of about 12 people at his residence in Vikaspuri area on Wednesday night, following which nine of them, including four juveniles and a middle-aged woman, have been apprehended.

Narang was dragged out of his house and beaten with bats, iron rods and hockey sticks following an argument over a bike grazing the doctor's child.
