Yadgir district administration takes steps to ensure no water shortage in summer

Yadgir: With the summer season fast approaching, the Yadgir district administration is taking proactive measures to ensure people do not face any water shortage.

Deputy Commissioner Snehal R has directed officials to open helplines in every taluk to address drinking water-related issues and ensure that the public does not face any water shortage problems.

The DC stressed the need to ensure all the drinking water units in the district function properly. Damaged units are to be repaired this month and handed over to the gram panchayats. She suggested that the Taluk Panchayat Executive Officers should focus on whether the Gram Panchayats are maintaining them accurately.

In case of any technical problems related to the water supply, repair work should be carried out on priority immediately to ensure that the water supply is not disrupted. If there is any problem in the water supply, it should be resolved within 24 hours on priority. Water supply tanks in urban and rural areas should be kept clean, and officials have been instructed to inspect the tanks regularly and make necessary arrangements for the supply of water.

As a precautionary measure, alternative water sources will be conserved and revived. Other works, including the laying of pipelines, will be undertaken as soon as possible to ensure there is no water shortage.

The DC has suggested formulating various programs in villages, taluks, and cities on water conservation and taking strict action against unnecessary wastage and contamination of water.

With the temperature expected to rise in the coming days and the scorching sun likely to cause health problems, the district administration is also ensuring that hospitals have an adequate supply of medicine to treat people suffering from heat-related illness.
