Vijayawada: Durga temple board nod for Mukhamandapam in stone

Vijayawada: The Durga Malleswara Swami temple trust board on Monday approved construction of the Mukhamandapam at the main entrance of the temple in stone, construction of Rahu-Ketu puja premises also in stone and Vinayaka statue in cement. The expenses will be borne by donors.
The trust board met here at the Madapati Choultry during which various development activities were discussed and approved. The meeting was presided over by temple executive officer V. Koteswaramma.
Giving details of the decisions taken, Ms Koteswaramma said under the Central government’s Pilgrim Resonation and Spiritual Augment Drive (Prasad) a Detailed Project Report was sent to the Centre for approval.
Once the funds are sanctioned, development activities in 2.5 acres at Kummaripalem site, work on the Annadanam, cleanliness activities, Kummaripalem road development project, electric vehicles to transport pilgrims to the temple and construction of pilgrim shelters will be taken up, she said.
The EO added that statues of the presiding deity would be installed at Siddhartha Academy and at all colleges run on temple lands. Also, notice boards will be installed at all temple owned lands, she said.
Pradakshan will be allowed in the wee hours between 3 am to 4 am, she said.
The EO said that all the above mentioned were discussed in the board meeting and also approved.
Ms Koteswaramma said that the Celestial Ride of the Goddess on River Krishna will be held once a month. Cultural programmes will be organised on a regular basis besides giving Laddu Prasadam, photos and Seshavastram of the deity to select devotees.
She said that housing facility for employees was also discussed and approved at the board meeting.
