Seven-year-old boy electrocuted in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A seven-year-old boy was electrocuted while his five-year-old younger brother escaped with injuries after they came in touch with an extended live wire from a lamp post while playing in a park in Banaswadi Sunday evening.
The deceased, Uday Kumar N, was a resident of Grape Garden and the elder child of Nagaraj and Gowramma. Nagaraj works as a contractor while Gowramma is a homemaker. Uday was studying in class III at a private school in Banaswadi.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 6.45 pm while Uday was playing with his brother inside Dr Rajkumar park near Kullappa circle. There were many children playing along with Uday and his brother when the two stepped on the live wire. Passerby heard their screams and shifted them to a nearby hospital where Uday was declared brought dead.
The wire was connected to the lamp post and one end was left loose. The Banaswadi police have registered an FIR against BBMP, BDA and the contractors who were carrying out light related work in the park.
Meanwhile, Mayor, Gangambike Mallikarjun, visited the park where the incident took place and announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for Uday's family.
