Kadapa: Farmers protest near collectorate
Kadapa: Members of the All-party Farmers’ Association laid siege to the Kadapa collectorate on Monday resenting the government’s delay in launching the welfare activities for farmers despite declaring the entire district drought-hit.
Representatives of United AP Farmers Association, Rythu Swarajya Vedika, BKS, Rayalaseema Students Association also took part in the protest.
They demanded that crop insurance amount be issued immediately, release the waiver amount of the 4th and 5th phase agriculture loan and deposit the same in bank accounts.
AP Farmers’ Association leaders G. Chandra and Dastagiri Reddy demanded that the government take steps to supply drinking water to people in rural areas, where the shortage of water was severe.
They also demanded input subsidy and crop insurance amounts pending between 2012 and 2018.
They also wanted the government to supply grass to farmers through the animal husbandry department, free of cost. They also complained that many farmers not getting remunerative price for their produce.
