CPM fears CBI probe on Periya: Ramesh Chennithala
Thrissur: The CPM fears CBI probe into the twin murder of Youth Congressmen in Kasargod, and the Crime Branch and the ongoing crime branch investigation is just an eyewash, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he alleged that the government was trying to protect the real culprits who planned the murder with the support of those in power.
"The attempt is on to destroy all evidence in the twin murder. The accused persons are being provided with food and clothes at the jail by CPM. It shows that the CPM is not going to stop its murder politics," the Congress leader said.
"The Kannur links of the murderers are not being probed. It was the reason why the Congress is opposing an inquiry by CB and demanded a CBI probe."
He also alleged that the investigating officers had not even questioned the neighbours of the accused.
About CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's statement against NSS, Mr Chennithala said that the CPM tried to open talks with them on the Sabarimala issue fearing a setback in the upcoming general elections, but the attempt failed miserably. "Now Mr Balakrisnan is trying to intimidate the NSS," he said.
