Andhra varsity, NCC of 2 Telugu states ink pact
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University has signed an agreement with the NCC Directorate for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to award PG Diploma in Management to the officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force posted with NCC units in both Telugu speaking states.
AU Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao and NCC (AP and Telangana) deputy director general air commodore N.N. Reddy signed the MoU at the university campus on Monday.
The idea of such professional growth was discussed during Mr Reddy’s visit last December.
The university has agreed to enter into a pact with the NCC authorities. Credits will be awarded to officers of the three defence services after they are trained in their respective professional field and are made to undergo career improvement courses.
The deputy director general said that award of the PG Diploma in Management would be a befitting tribute to the officers of the NCC fraternity.
“This will go a long way in training and shaping the NCC Cadets by use of the university’s operational and administrative experience,” he said.
Mr Nageswara Rao also emphasised the importance of professional growth and advised the tri-service officers posted in NCC organisations to utilise this opportunity for their future growth and improvement in service.
The aim of the MoU is to work towards evaluation and credit determination of ab-initio training of tri-service officers based on their professional knowledge and various courses attended by these officers during their career.
AU registrar, NCC group commander and officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force of NCC Vizag Group along with officials from the AU attended.
