Thiruvananthapuram; Congress president Rahul Gandhi will visit the home of slain Youth Congress leader S. P. Shuhaib in Kannur on March 6. KPCC leadership had requested Mr Gandhi to visit his home to highlight the atrocities being unleashed by the CPM in Kannur, the home district of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Mr Gandhi had spoken to C. P. Muhammad, father of the YC leader the next day after he was laid to rest. In a tweet, he expressed shock and hoped the perpetrators of the "cowardly" act are brought to justice soon.
Kannur strongman K. Sudhakaran ix on an indefinite fast for the eighth day at the district headquarters demanding a CBI probe and a similar protest by YC state president Dean Kuriakose and vice-president C. R. Mahesh before the Secretariat here has completed a week.
“Kannur is infamous to be a politically volatile district. But KPCC leadership has ensured that the indefinite fast before the Kannur Collectorate and Secretariat are held peacefully in a Gandhian way. This is the right time for Rahul Gandhi to take it forward,” said a leader. The final programme of the Congress president is yet to be released.
