Edappadi K Palanisamy to request Narendra Modi to stop Neduvasal project
Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami will urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop the Neduvasal hydrocarbon project during his meeting on February 27, health minister C. Vijayabaskar said on Saturday. Speaking to the media after meeting the protesters against the project, Vijayababaskar denied that the state government is silent on the issue and would take firm steps to stop the project, by taking up the issue with the centre.
Vijayabaskar said he would arrange a meeting of the representatives of farmers and students, protesting against the scheme with the Chief Minister on February 26. The state government is concerned with the welfare of farmers and protect their livelihood. He recalled that former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had strongly opposed the methane project in the Cauvery delta and stopped it. He also said Jayalalithaa had opposed the GAIL pipeline project in the Kongu region tooth and nail and the government would follow in her footsteps.
