Railway Budget 2016: Tamil Nadu happy with auto hub on rails
The outline of the public-private partnership project will commence in three months.
Chennai: The railway budget 2016 has proposed to set up of country’s first rail auto hub in Chennai to boost transport of vehicles. The auto rail corridor, also known as auto hub is a logistical provider facilitating transportation of vehicles from manufacturing plants to the destinations, say car manufacturers.
The outline of the public-private partnership project will commence in three months. The estimated cost of the project has not been mentioned.
“To capture the automobile traffic, we will soon inaugurate India’s first rail auto hub in Chennai,” said Suresh Prabhu, railway minister in his budget on Thursday.
