Watching child pornography can't be justified as freedom of expression: SC
New Delhi: Delimiting the notion of Freedom of speech and expression, Supreme Court on Friday directed the Central Government to chalk out methods to block child pornography. It said that one need to draw a line between art and obscenity; child pornography cannot be justified on the lines of freedom of expression.

In a response to the apex court, the Union Government said that it has already taken the requisite measures in order to ban child pornography. Further, it reinstated its earlier concern of how right to privacy in a way is impeding the government from banning the online circulation of pornography.
The Union Government in August 2015 had banned pornographic sites; however, its efforts went in vein. The Centre got severely chastised across the country owing to which it had to revoke its order.
