Hyderabad: Daily Covid-19 cases shot up sharply to 4,559 in Telangana on Tuesday even as the number of active cases rose to 36,269, with two more people dying from the disease taking the death toll from Covid in the state to 4,077.
According to the daily state Covid status bulletin issued by the director of public health and family welfare, of the active cases in Telangana, 3,335 of Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals with a majority of the admitted patients – 2,205 – on Oxygen beds and in intensive care units.
While the GHMC area reported 1,450 cases on Tuesday, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Ranga Reddy districts reported a serious overnight spike in numbers at 432, and 322, compared to 344, and 234 cases on Monday. Cases also rose on Tuesday in Hanamkonda district which reported 201 new Covid-19 infections, Khammam with 145 cases, with Nalgonda and Karimnagar joining districts with three-digit daily Covid cases with 138, and 112 cases reported respectively.
