Vijayawada: A recent survey by a Delhi-based agency and a national news channel has become a point of discussion in the political circles in the state.
The survey results led to jubilation in the YSRC camp, whereas TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu, who generally does not acknowledge pre-poll surveys, has discredited it vocally. Mr Naidu’s sharp reaction is being attributed to the fact that he does not want anything to dip the morale of the party cadre before the elections.
The Republic TV-C Voter survey has predicted a massive victory in AP for the YSRC led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The channel claimed the ruling TD would be reduced to six seats. Republic TV on Thursday released the results of the survey called 'National Approval Ratings'.
The survey results stated that if elections to the Lower House of Parliament were to be held today, the YSRC would win 19 of the 25 seats in the state. The ruling TD would be able to win only six seats, it stated. Further, as per the survey forecast, neither BJP nor the Congress would be able to win a single seat in the State.
With respect to voting share, the survey said that the YSRC is clearly ahead with 41.3 per cent, while the TD is expected to get around 33.1 percent. It is worth noting that in 2014, at the height of the Modi wave, the TD in a poll pact with the BJP could win only 15 Lok Sabha seats, while the national party won two seats. In 2014, going for the elections on its own, the YSRC won 8 Lok Sabha seats.
Sharply reacting to the survey results, Mr Naidu told party men on Friday, “Jagan is known for floating such fake surveys. He is an expert in spreading false propaganda. He thinks that he can buy anything with money. It’s his habit to conduct such fake surveys before polls. They can’t flip the popularity of the parties. Even before 2014 polls, such fake surveys were floated but ultimately TD won.”
