Kurnool: Awareness rally marks voters' day

Kurnool: Rajya Sabha MP T.G. Venkatesh said that it is the primary responsibility of every eligible citizen to enroll their names in the voters’ list and added that vote is a very powerful equipment to make a better society, with the selection of good politicians.

The district administration conducted 2k run on the city roads as part of National Voters’ Day on Friday. District collector S. Satyanarayana flagged-off the run and hundreds of students, teachers, employers and officials participated.

The run started at the Collectorate and passed through government general hospital, Budha-varpeta, Krishnadevar-aya Circle and Rajvihar Centre. Later, the rally returned to the starting point. Later, the officials organised the meeting at the Ambedkar Bhavan here. Addressing the gathering, MP T.G. Venkatesh called upon the youth to enroll their names in the voters’ list and to cast their vote.

“There will be a better future and a good society if they elect a good politician. Future of the Nation depends on youth and they should concentrate on this issue as it is their responsibility,” he added.

Meanwhile, the officials have conducted a special programme and held cultural events at Sunayana auditorium. The district administration also conducted competitions on essay writing, drawing, fancy dresses, dances and quiz across the district in all government schools.

The chief guests distributed prizes to the winners and felicitated some of seniors who casted their votes continuously for six times. SP K. Fakkeerappa, joint collector Pattan Ravi, and others participated.
