Coimbatore: Woman threatened with morphed pix, hunt on for two

Coimbatore: Police have launched a search for two persons including a woman for blackmailing a 33-year-old woman by morphing her pictures and looting her jewels.

According to police, Mohana Kannan (35), native of Namakkal owned a beauty parlor in the same area. He befriended a 33-year-old married woman residing at Peelamedu through social media. Mohana Kannan forced the woman to join his beauty parlor for work, but she refused and stopped her chat.

He came down to the city on December 5, contacted the woman and threatened uploading her morphed pictures on social media, if she did not give him her jewels. The woman panicked and gave him 12.5 sovereigns of gold jewels. Within a span of one week, Mohana Kannan again contacted the woman through his friend, Parimala, and got 11 more sovereigns of gold jewels.

Finally, on January 23, he agreed to return a pen drive with her morphed pictures for which he demanded Rs.10,000. Even after getting the money, Mohana Kannan and Parimala demanded more money and kept threatening her.

The woman lodged a complaint at the Ramanathapuram police station. Police have launched a search for the duo, who are absconding.
